Ductile Iron 80-60-03

 ASTM A536 2014 80-60-03 is a kind of high grade of ductile iron. It has comparatively high tensile strength, but low elongation, it is a typical high grade cast iron material. The following is its chemical composition, mechanical and physical properties.
 
1. Chemical Composition of Ductile Iron 80-60-03
 
C: 2.50-3.60, 
Si: 1.80-2.80, 
Mn: 0.30-0.70, 
P: < 0.08, 
S: < 0.02.
 
However, this range can not be taken as the standard of inspection, unless there is special requirement from client. This is just an approximate chemical composition range, which could be a reference to foundry production.
 
2. Mechanical Properties of Ductile Iron 80-60-03
 
Tensile Strength ≥ 555 MPa (80,000 psi). 
Yield Strength ≥ 415 MPa (60,000 psi). 
Elongation ≥ 3%.
 
There is no strict stipulation to the hardness of ASTM A536 80-60-03, however, normal hardness range should be 180 - 270 Brinell Hardness without heat treatment.

4. Some Casting Products of Ductile Iron 80-60-03
 
This ductile iron grade has very high tensile strength, moreover, it has good wearing resistance and vibration damping characteristic, so this material could be used to produce very tough casting products.
 
This material grade is suitable for producing connection axle, connecting rod, bracket, gear, clutch disc, hydraulic cylinder etc.
