Coated sand casting production process


The iron mold sand coating production line can also be called the coating sand production line,which metal mold cavity is covered with a thin layer of molding sand. Due to the sand layer is relatively thin (4~8mm),cause to reduces the scrap rate and provides casting quality. Another advantage is,Iron mold sand-covered mold has good rigidity,our casting parts will have high precision than sand casting and resin sand casting.

 

 

Our foundry has 3 sets of Automatic production line thermal coated sand production line,which can produce more than 1000 tons/month.

 
The coated sand casting has the following advantages:

 

1. Sand mold (core) surface has the good quality and Mechanical properties,surface roughness can reach Ra=6.3~12.5 um, dimensional accuracy can reach CT7~CT9.

 

2. Coated sand can be used to make molds and sand cores,so it can be used in many casting processes,for example Gravity Casting,Low pressure casting,Sand Casting,Iron mould sand casting,include the material iron,aluminum and stainless steel.

 

Coated sand has three kinds of different process,include cold coating, warm coating and hot coating.However,almost all the production of coated sand uses thermal coating method.

 

Due to the coated sand casting process has the high cost for the pattern,moreover, it is difficult to modify the pattern once completed. It is why our molds engineer will making the pattern success directly.

Many small walls complex shaped parts are produced through coated sand,for example ductile iron crankshaft, brake hub, brake disc, cylinder liner, bomb shell, tank track,motor base and so on. But Coated sand process use the material Resin price is higher than sand casting,pattern must be machined through high precision.It also produces a pungent odor during pouring,which limits the wide application of coated sand.
